Hanley move scuppered  E-mail

All smiles
All smiles before the crash
Forgers hopes of securing the signature of the former Bristol RU man Ellery Hanley was cruelly crushed at the last minute.  Ramsden and Hanley were all smiles earlier in the day as an agreement was nearing completion, but hopes and contracts were ripped up following news from over the pond.

The root of the problem appears to be caused by the drastic drop in the Dow Jones stock market panicking the backers of the Forgers.    Resident finincial guru Stephanie Dee gave an insight on how the global economy has conspired against the Sheffield club. Dee stated "The Dow Jones industrial average fell by 777.7 points, its worst one-day decline since the 1987 crash. No club can make big decisions at such a delicate time" She also had a few barbed comments aimed at the US house of representatives "...confidence in the US government to resolve an issue they themselves caused is at rock bottom, the refusal by the House of Representatives to issue the $700 billion rescue scheme defies belief".

It is widely expected that Forgers supremo Ramsden will now approach 'go to' man Mick Rogers to steer the ship till a big name signing can be made.

Hanley to Forgers?  E-mail
Hanley to Forgers?
Hanley to Forgers?
Rumours are rife at the Forgers today as League legend Ellery Hanley was spotted boarding a train heading towards Sheffield.  A source not too close to Hanley suggested the former GB loose forward is meeting club chairman Ben Ramsden and financial architect Stephanie Dee at All Saints to thrash out a deal to make the former Doncaster boss Director of Rugby.  Club stalwart Simon Waller was overjoyed at the link and suggested that the once moustached cherry and white would be an excellent addition to the club and would show the Forgers fans that the club is heading in the right direction.

The news was not welcomed by all as out spoken former Forger Hooker David Hooper blasted the move as a publicity stunt and labelled any decision as 'rash'.  Hooper raged "clearly Ramsden and other members of the board are looking for a quick fix following the defeats at the hands of Kippax 'A' and St Josephs 'A'.  Hanley will only be coming for the Forger dollar and will set the club back 10 years, if the club want real progress then I am the only man to do it".

When told of Hoopers outburst utility forward Paul Holbrook simply retored "man's a fool".   Hooper did find support from foul mouthed fellow Hull man Richard Scaife as he urged club bosses to put faith in a Scaife/Hooper team by saying "<CENSORED/> the board, bunch of <CENSORED/> idiots, them <CENSORED/> should forget Hanley and put me and that <CENSORED/> Hoops in charge.  I've <CENSORED/> out more rugby knowledege then any of these <CENSORED/> will ever know."
